I love writing about Fantasy, there are so many ways things can go. I used the prompt "The two stood face to face" as the start and "Then there was one" as the end of the prompt. It sums up my old writing I did when I was younger because I was almost obsessed with knights and renaissance era daydreams. I almost always end my stories with a twist and even though this isn't one of my best twists, it's a good twist I enjoyed and knew I had to put in as soon as I made it.

The two stood face to face. Their eyes were soaked red with the blood of one another. They knew who would win this fight. The red knight stood back up, his arm turning red from the slash his foe had created. The blue knight jumped off his horse. “Are you ready to surrender yet?” he said with a full ego. It prided him to see the red knight on the ground. The red knight made a disgruntled groan as he went for his sword. The blue knight, one step ahead as always, bolted to the sword and freed it from the soft ground of the forest. “I’ve trained so long for this moment. The moment I get to murder the one who killed my sister.” He swiftly lifted the sword as if it as a feather and lined it above the red knights head. Soon the sword began to glow orange, as if it were burning. Smoke sizzled from the sword as the blue knight screamed in agony and the sword melted through his armor. He dropped the sword just as the red knight rolled out of the way of danger. “This is a misunderstanding good sir, i’ve never killed anyone.”

The red knight said in the deepest voice he could muster, attempting to hold onto all the bravery in his body. “How did you burn me?” shouted the blue knight, angrier than before “It’s warlocks like you that murdered my sister Annabella. She would have been 18 today!” More red in the face than the blood on his shoulder. The forest now had a contrast of red and green throughout. Like a demented christmas scene. The knights were now facing each other again. “Listen man, I have never heard of you before, nor her.” the red knight said, pleading to continue on his way. “I would gladly heal your hand if you will allow me.”

He took a step forward, holding his hand out. The blue knight stumbled backwards, cradling his hand and shouted “ Get back he-beast! I will never indulge in the weapon of the mad!” “Actually it’s the ‘weapon of the mind.’” the red knight stated, holding back a chuckle. This made the blue knight increasingly mad, that he seemed to have forgotten the first degree burn on his hand as he picked up his sword. The red knight said a quick enchantment under his breath as his sword flew past the advancing blue knight into the red knights hand. “I don’t want to hurt anyone anymore, please just let me continue my work.” the red knight said, backing into a tree. “So you admit you have hurt someone in your lifetime, such as my sister!” Argued the blue knight as his pace quickened. He started running towards the red knight with full speed, intention to kill. The red knight dropped his head. Soon he vanished. The blue knight rammed his sword into the tree seconds after. The red knight appeared behind the blue knight. The blue knight shrieked in rage. It was quite the piteous scene.

“Do you need some help sir?” the red knight offered. In a booming scream, the blue knight ripped through the tree and ran after the red knight. The red knight stayed still. As the blue knight approached, the red knight swiftly and instantly slipped behind the blue knight and gashed his calf. The blue knight howled in pain, he fell. “I give up with you.” the red knight said. The blue knight shouted profanity, he would not stop until the red knight dropped his helmet. In reality, the deep voice was a cover for the long strands of hair that fell from her head. The blue knight’s mouth dropped open. “Close your mouth brother, your face will be stuck like that.” She walked over and closed his mouth for him. "Didn't mother always say that?" Annabella said as she swiftly walked the other way when a flash of dark gray smoke silhouetted her foot prints, and then there was one.
